I made these quilts when I was just starting learning how to sew. I found tutorials online and gave it a try.
We were living in Northern Virginia at the time, in Park place apartments right next to the Van Dorn exit off the beltway. I had just started working as a nurse in the operating room and I think it was the combination of seeing other people creating things (surgeries) and seeing the residents suturing made me think I can do something like that. Not with real people. Fabric is much better. So I tried it out. bought a couple of books and a sewing machine from Amazon and the journey began. I love this green and white quilt. it is lap size and so cozy.
This is the quilt that I made for my nephew when he was born. His family now has three more girls and he is the only one I have made a baby blanket for. I need to get on that.
I found another tutorial about how to do the log cabin quilt. I really liked this one. I haven't picked up this pattern in a while but it would be a fun one to get back to. One of the things that I remember about this quilt is that I tried everything to get red socks fabric for the back but I could not find it anywhere. not cotton fabric anyway. So he got baseballs with the red socks colors.
